Volunteer

London Tigers’ volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and without them the organisation could never have grown in the way that it has. Our dedicated army of volunteers work tirelessly to promote, organise and deliver our projects and services and they are one of the key reasons why our community engagement is so successful.

Our volunteers allow us to maximise service delivery, reduce operational running costs and also ensure that our activities are more sustainable in the long term. Over the past five years alone, our volunteers have dedicated well over 55,000 hours to supporting London Tigers initiatives.

The volunteers we recruit come from all walks of life and reflect the communities we serve. We believe that everyone has something to offer and our volunteers attain a sense of personal satisfaction and pride at having made a difference, an emotion that is technically described as ‘that warm fuzzy feeling’.

Although our volunteers never ask for much in return for their dedication and effort, we take great pride in them and do everything we can to help them to fulfil their own personal ambitions, whether that be finding long term employment or simply obtaining a certain qualification. For example, one volunteer’s journey saw him progress to become a sports coach, then a project worker for London Tigers, then Assistant Manager for our semi-professional team and he is now the Assistant Coach for a Lithuanian Premier League football club. We invest a great deal of time and resources on our volunteers, organising accredited training and developing their personal capacity. In 2011 this investment was formally recognised as the organisation achieved the coveted ‘Investing in Volunteers’ quality mark.
