Entering the Competition
To register your team for the UK Asian Community Cup 2017, please contact sports@londontigers.org. You will need to complete a Team Application Form, Player Registration Forms, and provide the registration fee, Club History and Team Photo to London Tigers.
The UK Asian Community Cup is an annual football festival organised by London Tigers in partnership with professional football clubs. The preliminary rounds will take place at London Tigers Sports Complex. Promoting Hidden Talents The Festival first began in 2003 when Chelsea FC and London Tigers became the first organisations in London to work together to promote Asian grassroot talents to other professional clubs as well as the public and media. The festival been held every year since then, with the finals always being played at a professional stadium. These have included Chelsea FC, West Ham United, QPR and Redbridge & Dagenham FC. Pathway For Asian Talents This festival creates a pathway for Asians towards mainstream football and provides a platform for amateur Asian teams to display local talented players to others. Tackling Racism The festival has the strong agenda of kicking racism out of football by showing that Asians can play football provided that they are given the opportunity and access to quality resources. Although the tournament is targeted for Asian community, we allow up to 4 non-Asians on the field of play also promoting other ethnic minority communities. Our previous tournaments have brought together communities from Bangladesh, Brazil, China, England, Scotland, India, Italy, Bulgaria, Ivory coast, Japan, Mauritius, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Vietnam and Zimbabwe among many others. Bringing Together Communities From Across The UK It attracts players from over 25 nationalities and over 2,500 spectators over the 3 days. It is also attended by high profile personalities, MPs, MEPs and local Councillors as well as officials from various statutory and voluntary bodies. Football teams from across the UK attend the event to represent their regions, including Glasgow, Birmingham, Wales, Luton, Ipswich, London to name a few. Support from Dignitaries During its history, this event has enjoyed support or attendance from dignitaries such as: Gordon Brown, then Prime Minister Andy Burnham, then Secretary of State Gerry Sutcliffe, then Minister for Sports Richard Scudamore, CEO of the Premier League Paul Thorogood, CEO of Football Foundation Garth Crooks OBE Robert Evans MEP Karen Buck MP … and many others.
